LEAVE EASY COME BACK SAFE is a Belarusian WIP project to be co-directed by interdisciplinary artist Masha Maroz and filmmaker Sasha Kulak. The lyrical project is set in Polesia, a mystical region of Belarus, “where time seems suspended as the seasons pass.” In the film, four characters try to preserve their fading culture. These are beekeeper Misha, the 86-year old healer and pagan Baba Eva, the Belarusian Christian Father Aliaksandar, and Katsiaryna, who maintains old costumes and photographs.
A 2-episode documentary about figure skater Alyona Kostornaya directed by Pavel Ignatiev and produced by Stereotactic. For the filming of this project, I took skating lessons to be closer to the protagonists.
